Bemidji HS girls tennis splits two matches at Detroit Lakes

East Grand Forks caught Bemidji short handed and handed it a 4-3 upset at the Detroit Lakes triangular Tuesday.

Bemidji blanked the host Lakers 7-0.

Bemidji was missing Cortne Solberg with illness while Kenzie Kane was playing with a wrist injury.

East Side took advantage of the switch to sweep the four singles and hold on for a 4-3 win.

Jesamey Jones beat Jamie Hoffman for the second time this fall at No. 1 and Emma Nielsen, Mackenzie Schultz and Amy Frosaker switched from doubles with only Frosaker extending her match to an extra set.

Bemidji won the three doubles in straight sets.

Detroit Lakes offered little opposition losing six matches in straight sets.

Nielsen took the No. 2 singles in a tiebreaker.

Bemidji is back in action Thursday making up the Fergus Falls triangular with Moorhead as the third team. Saturday it plays at the Hibbing Invitational.
