Bemidji HS girls swimming travels to Bagley-Fosston

The Bemidji High swim team makes its final road trip of the regular season tonight, heading west to take on the Fosston-Bagley Seals in the five lane Fosston pool.

The small pool negates Bemidji's depth and puts an added burden on taking first places.

To add to the problems, Bemidji has been battling a siege of flu this week which has cut the squad to the bone and disrupted training not only for the final regular season meets but also the section meet only three weeks away .

Bemidji beat the Seals here last year 101-77 but will need a complete effort to repeat at Fosston. That meet will be scored to only three places instead of five.

"It's the worst siege of illness I've ever experienced," said Coach Woody Leindecker.

"I have no idea of who we will have to swim until school starts tomorrow. And many of the swimmers we will have will be behind because of missed practices."

The team ends its regular season Tuesday at home with Moorhead before beginning its taper for the sectional. That meet will be at Warroad as Bemidji makes its first appearance into Class A post season play.

It recently captured the 8A True Team sectional title.
