The Bemidji High girls hockey team rebounded from its Thursday night loss to Warroad to bury outmatched River Lakes 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the Richmond Arena.
If lifted Bemidji to 9-2 on the season with the team going to Hibbing Tuesday for its final pre-holiday game.
The Stars fell to 3-7-1.
Emil Denzer made her first start of the year, facing only eight shots to post the shutout, the team's second of the year.
Bemidji fired 48 on Steph Lucas whose play kept the game from being even more one sided.
Karleigh Wolkerstorfer put the winners on the board at the 8:16 mark, her first varsity goal.
Casey Miller celebrated her birthday by adding here third goal of the year at 16:07 to double the score. Bemidji out shot the Stars 17-4 in the period.
It got out of hand quickly in the second period., Wolkerstorfer scored her second goal at 5:41 and Becca Gregg and Alli Lapp put two more back to back in a 24 second period late in the stanza with Lapp repeating three minutes later for the 6-0 lead. Bemidji held an 18-1 shots advantage in the period as River Lakes fell into a defensive shell midway through the period.
The final period was played on running time with Chaniel Nelson adding the final goal of the game at 13:00.
"We had a strong second period,," said Coach Matt Menne. But we played strong all day and had great movement. We hope to keep up this type of play Tuesday,"
Only five penalties were called, three on Bemidji, with neither team scoring on the power play.
