Bemidji HS girls hockey: Offense struggles in loss to East Grand Forks
The girls hockey team outshot East Grand Forks 35-21 Thursday but the Green Wave made the most of their opportunities as they handed the Jacks a 5-1 loss in East Grand Forks.
"We played pretty well but we're disappointed that we couldn't finish and get to our rebounds," said BHS coach Matt Menne. "I can see that our effort and playmaking are starting to jell. Our problem is that we just are not taking care of business at either end of the rink."
The home team took a 2-0 lead in the opening stanza and upped its advantage with the lone goal of the middle period.
Bemidji drew within 3-1 when Becca Gregg scored three minutes into the final period courtesy of assists by Janie Johnson and Allie Heifort but EGF iced the win with goals at 6:52 and 13:36.
Laura Thompson stopped 16 shots in the BHS net while the Jacks had 35 shots.
Bemidji, 3-9, will be at Brainerd Saturday.
