Bemidji HS girls golf team battles through rain
Meg Phelps fired rounds of 48-43-91 to lead the Bemidji girls golf team at Saturday's meet held in the rain at The Legacy course.
"It rained all day," said BHS coach Jeff Nelson. "There was no reprieve. You had to keep your focus in these conditions and persevere but it's tough to do."
Alexandria dominated the meet as it won the team event by 23 shots and also owned the two top players. lexandria finished at 332 and Elk River was a distant second at 355.Grand Rapids was third with 356 and Bemidji placed fourth in the 10-team field with 387.
The meet medalist was Maggie Leland of Alexandria who shot even-par 72. Teammate Maxine Carlson was second at 83 and Sadie Martin of Elk River placed third at 84.
Also scoring for Bemidji were Emily Frosaker's 95, Marissa Loch's 100 and Shelby Sauer's 101. Aimee Sandquist carded a 103 and Erin Buckanaga a 106.
The Lumberjacks are off until Friday when they host their annual invitational at the Bemidji Town & Country Club.
