Bemidji HS girls basketball team makes quick work of Sartell
The Bemidji High girls basketball team registered its 12th win of the year Saturday afternoon, scoring a 62-52 victory at Sartell.
It lifted the team to 12-1 and dropped the Sabres to 9-4.
Bemidji hosts West Fargo Tuesday and travels to Brainerd Thursday and Sauk Rapids Saturday for its next three starts.
Bemidji jumped to a 36-28 halftime lead and added two more points to the margin after the break
Kayla Hirt led the way with 34, hitting a wide variety of shots inside and out. Erika Weimann added 10 and Kenzie Kane nine.
Sartell had a two pronged attack from center Andrea Whitney with 24 and guard Haley Guetter with 18. But their teammates could add only 10 more.
Bemidji worked with a zone defense throughout the contest with two players still missing with injuries.
It built an 18 point lead midway through the second half and made it stand up.
The B Team fell 54-41 out scored 26 -13 in the second half.
Caitlin Hadrava paced the team with 13. It dropped Bemidji to 5-6.
The freshmen reached 8-3 with a 48-37 decision. Greta Steever hit 24 and Jessa Lusby 11 to pace the attack.
