It faces another classic battle Friday, traveling to Eden Prairie and stops at Staples on the way home for a Saturday game.

Bemidji jumped to an unaccustomed 30-15 lead at the start, then saw Hibbing battle back to slice the margin to 40-34 at halftime.

But Bemidji adjusted to the physical Iron Range style of play and began feeding Kayla Hirt inside for a steady stream of second half baskets.

The 6-3 center ended with 36 tying her season high scored in the season opener against Crookston.

Megan Huseby added 10 and eight different players scored.

Lacey Grahek netted 22 for Hibbing and Hillary Baumgartner had 10.

No one else had more than six.,

"Hibbing was more athletic than we had anticipated," said Coach Rick Kehoe. "They rebounded well and we gave up a lot of easy lay ups in the opening half.  We also had more trouble finding the net from the outside than we usually do. But we settled down at the half and added nine points to the margin down the stretch."

The B Team won 40-38 to level its season at 2-2 Summer Monsrud led seven scorers with nine.

The freshmen won 47-33 to also reach 2-2 Greta Steever had 13, Jessa Lusby 12 and Blake Bardwell 10 in a balanced attack.
