Bemidji HS girls basketball: Little Falls edges Jacks with free throws

Little Falls pulled away in the second half and sizzled from the free throw line Tuesday night in a 61-47 high school girls basketball victory over Bemidji on the Flyers' court.

The host team made 19 of 22 shots from the line, while Bemidji struggled to a 10-of-20 showing.

It was the fourth straight defeat for the Lumberjacks, who fell to 4-9 on the season. Bemidji's next game is at 6 p.m. Friday at West Fargo, N.D.

Little Falls improved to 7-11.

The Flyers led 31-23 at the half and increased the lead after the break. Junior center Whitney Weisz led all scorers with 23 points and senior Paige Beseman added 18.

Sophomore post Jess Yost led Bemidji with 12 points, but had trouble at the foul line, making 4 of 10. No other Lumberjack player topped six points.

Bemidji won both preliminary games. The BHS junior varsity squad won 42-22 and the freshmen rolled to a 51-24 victory.
