Bemidji took control at the outset and was never threatened, giving its reserves ample playing time in both halves.

The offense rolled at will after going on a 19-4 run midway through the opening stanza en route to a 44-21 lead shortly before halftime.

Then some careless play allowed East to close at 7-6 and trail at the break 46-30.

The starters returned briefly to open the second half and opened the lead to 65-36 with eight minutes to play before retiring for the night.

Against the lower six, East held only an 11-10 edge the rest of the way.

Kayla Hirt led the way with 26 points, 13 in each half. Freshman Kenzie Kane had her best varsity game with 16 with 12 coming in the first half including a pair of treys.

Kelsey Heisler hit a season high 14 as that trio combined for 50 points to outscore the visitors themselves.

East received 13 from Macie Dorow and Anne Mahoney and 12 from Elsa Lee but not much else.,

Bemidji built a 42-34 lead off the boards with Jess Yost cleaning 11 to pace the way, Hirt added nine and Heisler seven. No Greyhound had more than six.

Bemidji did commit 20 turnovers, many of them by the reserves late in both halves. East had 18.

Things will get much tougher tomorrow night at Sartell where Bemidji faces the 8-1 Sabres who will prove a far tougher opponent.

No lineup changes are planned.

Bemidji played Thursday without Megan Huseby and Caitlin Gangelhoff, both sidelined by injuries. They are not likely to be available tomorrow.

The two teams divided the preliminaries. East held the B Team to 11 second half points to pull out a 37-30 victory in a low scoring contest.

Neither team shot well with Caitlin Hadrava pacing Bemidji with11 and Mandi Muraca getting 10 for the Hounds.

Hadrava cleaned 16 boards to top both teams.

Without Yost or Kane, now full time varsity players, the B Team struggles for points, dropping to 5-6 on the year.

The freshmen reached 7-3 with a 47-30 win with Jessa Lusby hitting 14 and Greta Steever 10. Emily Youngstrand had eight to lead the Hounds.
