Bemidji HS football: Jacks post impressive stats
The Bemidji Lumberjacks football team that reached .500 this fall at 6-6 and regained the state tournament for the second time this decade, posted some impressive individual and team statistics.
Quarterbacks Mitch Hendricks and Ryan Stevens completed 88-164 passes for 1,377 yards and 13 touchdowns with only 14 interceptions.
Hendricks, who was sidelined at midseason by a dislocated collarbone, hit 66-115 for 987 yards and eight scores with nine picked off.
Stevens was 22-49 for 390 yards and five scores with five picked off.
Both will return next season.
Rushing totals found the Jacks carrying 390 tines for 2,035 yards and scoring 21 times, averaging 5.2 yards per carry .
Leading the way was Czar Woods who carried 149 times for 1,015 yards and eight scores, an average of 6.81 yards per carry and 92.8 yards per game.
Evan Olson and Kyle Nelson scored three times and Hendr8icks two. Olson carried for 392 yards and Nelson 364.
The Jacks receivers gained 1,342 yards, averaging 16 yards per catch. Rude led with 39 catches for 841 yards, an average of 21.56 per catch with nine touchdowns. Czar Woods and Cole Bardwell had 11 catches and Will Bruestle 10, Bardwell scoring twice and Woods and Bruestle once.
Rude topped the scoring list with 54 points while Woods added 50 and Olson 32.
Placekickers Mike Rees and Jon Henry combined for 25 including three field goals.
Inside linebackers Olson and Ernie Heifort topped the defensive chart with 79 and 73 solo tackles and 172 and 179 combined, each averaging more than14 per game.
Frank Mays' 3½ sacks was high for the year.
