Bemidji HS cross country teams compete at Mega Meet

The Bemidji High cross country teams joined the state's best Saturday, running at the Milaca Mega Meet, the nation's largest high school meet.


The meet attracted upwards of 70 teams to compete in three divisions and 36 races from the seventh grade through the varsity.

White Bear Lake took the boys AAA title with 53 points to 54 for Stillwater. Bemidji had 223 with Alex Schoneberger 31, Andy Berube 43, Dan Clemenson 45, John Buckanaga 50 and Jake Urban 58.

Te kickers were Justin Byers 69 and Corey Huber 88.

Andover took the girls AAA title with 51 points to 65 for Prior Lake.

Bemidji had 327 with Kim Truedson 27, Bailey Drewes 33, Alex Lyren 73, Hana Felix 96 and Chelsea Johnson 98.

The lone kicker was Betsy Richards 105.

Bemidji was 10 among 30 teams in the boys JV race won by Stillwater with 30 points to 101 for Owatonna.

The Jacks had 298 with Jake Fisher 25, Bryce Blankenfeld 56, Josh Kane 62, Trent Buckanaga 72 and Pete Humeniuk 83.

The kickers were Alex Cole 141 and Dan Kilday 154.

Stillwater took the girls JV title with 62 points to 72 for Fairmont.

Kristina Langherhuis was the only Bemidji entrant finishing 110 in a field of 237.

Bemidji was sixth among 18 teams in the boys 10th grade event. Prior Lake won with 63 to 66 for Stillwater. Bemidji had 187. Ryan Erickson was 21, Devin Danielson 23, Tanner Asper 34, Scott Hulsebus 47 and Zach Rickers 62.

The kickers were Keegan Hilmer 63 and Hayden Byers 95 in a field of 213.

The 8th grade boys race went to Minot, N.D. with 50 points to 96 for Owatonna.

Bemidji was ninth with 188 in a field of 14 teams.

Sam Carlson was 20, Tom Revering 22, Nate Spangler 23. Evan White 45 and Joe Lukowski 78 in a field of 156.
