Bemidji HS cross country ski: Jacks girls third, boys fourth at Mt. Itasca Invite

The Bemidji girls took third and the boys fourth Thursday at the Mt. Itasca Invitational, a late scheduled meet to replace the Montebello Relays Saturday which were cancelled due to the lack of snow.

Duluth East took the girls title with 386 points to 375 for Grand Rapids and 343 for Bemidji.

Two Harbors was the fourth full team with four others skiing incomplete

Marian Lund of East was the winner of the 5k freestyle event in 17:36.

For Bemidji, Bailey Drewes was ninth, Molly Manske 14, Laura Yourd 18, Alicia Papke-Larson 20 and Tiffany Mason 22. with the low four counting toward the team total.

East also took the boys title with 380 points to 362 for Mesabi East, 347 for Grand Rapids and 321 for Bemidji with Two Harbors and Proctor the other full teams. Four others skied incomplete.

Kellen Witschen of Mesabi was the winner in 15:10.

For Bemidji, Matt Lee was seventh, Tony Sagedahl 22, Adam Holter 25 and Sam Dwyer 30.

Team totals were not available for the JV and Junior High races.

In the boys JV, Josh Hill of East won in 17:54.

For Bemidji, Zach Hewitt was 11, Carl Graefe 13., John Buckanaga 24, Tanner Asper 27, Andy Berube 28 and Trent Buckanaga 29,

Kiersten Haaverson of Two Harbors won the girls JV title in 20:22;5.

Kim  Truedson was 15 for Bemidji with Kristina Lengerhuis 27.

The boys Junior High winner was Jordan Wednchuk of Bemidji in 12;45.6.

Josh Claussen was fourth, Anthony Trudeau 19, Matthew Eriksson 14, Austin Chatterton 25, Isaiah Riegert 33, Kyle Johnson 35, Joel Carlson 37, Harrison Plum 40, Nolan Hamilton 41, Ethan Houle 42 and Tyler Verdugo 43.

Audrey Summers of Cook County won the girls Junior High title in 13:3 48.4.

For Bemidji, Morgan Sagedahl was 27, California Thorson 33, Atomic Thorson 44, Anna Eriksson 47, Ariel Tix 52 and Amelia Hudson 53.

The skiers return to the course at Deer River Dec. .29.
