Through the years, Bemidji has had continual problems winning on the Hibbing field.

That pattern held on Thursday. Bemidji out shot the Jackets 21-8 and controlled play 75 percent of the day.

But it was unable to put the ball past goalie Cody Johnson despite numerous opportunities to do so.

Hibbing scored the only goal of the first half on a penalty kick by Shay Robbers. Bemidji held a 9-4 shots advantage in the 40 minutes.

It out shot the home team 12-4 in the second half yet never got back into contention.

Two goals by Matt Tourville at 62 and 65 minutes put the game out of reach and Kyle Weber made it 4-0 with 13 minutes left.

Matt Lee avoided a shutout when he converted a Kyle Fodness pass for his first goal o the year.

Kevin Larson had just four stops. Johnson had 20 for Hibbing.

"I don't know what it is about this field,," said Coach Rick Toward. "We had plenty of shots all day but kept hitting the goal tender at the midsection. And we missed a good number of other shots that failed to find the net."

The loss dropped Bemidji to 6-3-1. Things get no easier tomorrow when it travels to Apollo.

The JV made the best of one goal to score a 1-0 decision. Isaac Erickson scored that goal in the first half from an Austin Kovach feed.

Carl Graefe needed only five stops to post the team's third shutout. Hibbing had the same number of stops.

Jeff Mitchell's forces are now 6-1-3.
