Bemidji HS boys golf: Jacks fourth after first round at Detroit Lakes Invite
The Bemidji boys golf team will enter today's final 18 holes of the seven-team Detroit Lakes Invitational in fourth place after shooting 320 Friday at Longbow.
Today's round will be played at Wildflower in Detroit Lakes.
Fargo South set the pace Friday with 289 and Detroit Lakes was second at 304. West Fargo shot 314.
Trailing Bemidji were Detroit Lakes II at 321, Cambridge at 322 and Becker at 340.
Fargo South posted the top three individual scores as Landon Ross and Lukas Davison carded 71s and Tanner Jones finished at 73.
Bemidji's best was Joe Welle's 75. Kevin Larson shot 79, Trey Dale 82, Elliot Leinen 83, Rylee Curb 84, Jordan Manick 85 and Max Hazelton 93.
"Our long game from tee to green is close to being where it needs to be but we need to improve around the green," said BHS coach Eric Niskanen.
"Had we gotten up and down from 15 feet of the green 70 percent of the time with our top four players we would have saved 10 or 11 shots. And that is where I think we should be scoring."
The Lumberjacks will hit the first tee at 11:45 a.m. today.
