Bemidji HS boys basketball team rolls past Cottage Grove 60-31

The Bemidji Lumberjacks boys basketball team remained unbeaten Saturday afternoon completing a two-day sweep in the Lakes and Woods Invitational with a 60-31 win over Park High of Cottage Grove.

Grand Rapids also ended 2-0 with a 68-60 win over St. Cloud Cathedral.

The Jacks have a week off before heading to Red River Saturday and play at Grand Rapids Dec. 22 in what should be a classic battle.

Park managed only 65 points in its two starts after bowing 62-34 to Grand Rapids Friday.

Bemidji had things well in hand by halftime, holding the Wolfpack to 17 points while moving ahead by 15.

Ryan Rude led the way with 11 points with six other players scoring.

Craig Brown, the only Park scorer in double figures Friday hit 11 of the 17.

The defense was even stronger after the break, limiting Park to 14 which Bemidji doubled with 28.

Rude finished with 15 to take team honors. Czar Woods added 10 and Carey Woods nine. In all, ten players dented the scoring column. Brown took game honors with 18. No one else topped three.

Rapids wins

Grand Rapids also reached 3-0 with its hard fought victory .

The Hawks held a 36-31 lead at the break as Eric Stark hit 15. Luke Januschka had 12 and David Stemper 9 for the Crusaders.

The Rapids added three to its margin in the final 18 minutes.

Stark ended with 26 while Mike Johnson had 11 and Austin Pohlen and Kevin Rebbers 10 for the winners. Januschka took game honors with 27. Joe Burt added 17.
