The Bemidji baseball team capped a very successful week by sweeping Grand Forks Central 7-6 and 7-0 Saturday in Grand Forks.

"We went 4-1 and that is a very good week," said BHS coach Mike Fogelson. "Our job now is to try and do it again next week."

In Saturday's opener the Lumberjacks rallied from a 5-1 deficit with five runs in the fourth inning and scored the eventual winning run in the sixth when Collin Leif reached on a fielder's choice and Tyler Follis and Cody Rutledge followed with singles.

BHS used singles by Mason Bellew, Tatro and Josh Kane to score a run in the second but Central answered with five in its half of the stanza on four singles and three walks.

The Lumberjacks battled back with five in the upper fourth, however.

Bellew began the rally with a single and Tyler Tatro followed with a double. Kane's single plated Bellew and, after Graves forced Tatro out at home, Leif ripped an RBI double.

Follis plated two more with a double and Rutledge completed the rally with an RBI single.

Grand Forks Central tied the score with a run in the lower fourth but Bemidji tallied the winning run in the sixth.

Tatro and Leif each ripped a single and a double. Follis, Rutledge, Bellew and Kane all had two singles.

Matt Schneider earned the pitching victory and Jeremiah Graves, who was called upon to get the final out, had a save.

Saturday's nightcap was less dramatic as Bemidji took the lead with a pair of runs in the third, added solo tallies in the fourth and fifth innings, and settled the issue with three in the seventh.

Kane went the distance on the mound and allowed only three hits while fanning four.

Central opened the scoring with a run in the lower first but BHS took the lead with two in the third. Walks to Graves and Mitch Hendricks set the table for Leif's RBI single. An error on Follis' grounder plated the second run.

In the fourth Bellew walked, stole second, gained third on a passed ball and scored courtesy of Paul Voss' single. A single by Hendricks, a passed ball and Leif's single combined for a run in the fifth and a 4-1 lead.

The Jacks cemented the win in the seventh as a walk to Rutledge, Bellew's single and another walk to Tatro loaded the bases and Voss' groundout and Bardwell's single plated three runs.

Bemidji, 9-4, will be home Tuesday when it entertains Warroad in a doubleheader beginning at 4:30 p.m.
