Bemidji HS baseball: Follis leads Jacks in season stats
Tyler Follis ended the regular season with a .412 batting average and his offensive output helped the Bemidji baseball team post a .292 team average on way to a 12-8 record.
Follis played in all 20 games and led the Jacks in at-bats (68), runs (18), hits (28), doubles (seven) and total bases (38).
BHS has four other players hitting over .300 including Cody Rutledge who sports a .345 average, Tyler Tatro who is at .333, Jeremiah Graves who is hitting .310 and Collin Leif who stands at .306.
Rutledge has 20 hits while Leif has 19 and Mitch Hendricks 18. Hendricks is second on the squad in at-bats with 64 while Cold Bardwell, who often is a designated runner, trails only Follis in runs scored with 16.
The Jacks have been successful on 41 of 51 stolen base attempts and Bardwell's 14 leads the squad.
Ryan Stevens, who is getting the call to start Monday's Section 8AAA tournament opener against St. Cloud Apollo, is 4-0 and has a 1.28 earned run average in 27.1 innings.
Opponents are batting only .188 against him and he has fanned 41 batters while walking 15.
Zach Solheim is 3-3 with a 2.44 ERA in 27.2 innings and Follis is 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA in 23.1 innings.
Matt Schneider sports a 1-2 record, Cody Rutledge 1-1, Josh Kane 1-0 and Graves and Chad Head are both 0-1.
