Bemidji High soccer: New soccer press box, concession dedication Saturday
Bemidji High soccer fans can get their first look at the 2009 teams today when both boys and girls take on their Alumni in their annual scrimmages at the Middle School Soccer Field.
The boys game will begin at 10 and the girls at 12:15.
Between the two games, there will be exhibition contests involving the U-10 and U-12 boys and girls units.
They will follow the formal dedication of the new concession stand and press box at 11:30.
The two story structure will be on the north side hill overlooking the field with the concession stand on the first floor and the press box and game officials upstairs. They include the PA announcer and scoreboard operator.
The facility has been many years in the making while funds to underwrite the project were raised. It will offer the first weather protection for the game officials as well as provide a permanent concession stand.
Both squads made their final cuts Friday with the girls opening with six seniors, five juniors., four sophomores and two freshmen on their 18-player squad. Nicole Ramos, Bronwyn Boyd and Ann Swartz will serve as captains. Overall. 31 players are on the squad this fall with several varsity players expected to double with the JV through the season.
The boys will go with six seniors, 10 juniors, nine sophs and 11 freshmen for a squad of 36.
Of this group, the six seniors, six juniors, two sophs and two freshmen will be on the varsity.
Captains have yet to be announced.
