Bemidji High School's Trey Dale medalist of rain-shortened meet
BRAINERD - Saturday's second round of the Pequot Lakes boys golf invitational at The Preserve Golf Course was cancelled because of rain and cold and Bemidji's Trey Dale, who was the medalist after Friday's play, was declared the overall winner.
Saturday's action was moved forward to an 8 a.m. shotgun start in the hope that the golfers could complete their round prior to the onset of inclement weather but a steady rain and temperatures in the 30s hampered the participants from their opening tee shot.
"Everybody got in six or seven holes but the meet officials decided that enough was enough," said BHS coach Seth Knudson. "Because we had a shotgun start and everybody played different holes, we couldn't use Saturday's partial results so Friday's results became official."
During Friday's action at The Pines Dale fashioned the day's low round of 35-36-71 on the par-72 layout. Teammate Kodi Craft also shot in the 70s, carding a 37-39-76.
Bemidji's other scores included Elliot Leinen's 83, the 85s of Zack Rickers and Sam Bruestle plus Ryan Erickson's 97.
Collectively the Jacks shot 315 and finished eighth in the 16-team field. Lakeville North won the team title with 296.
