Casey Miller scored a rebound goal with 9:20 remaining to lift the Bemidji High School girls hockey team to an opening round win over North Wright County late Tuesday night at the Andover Invitational.

It was a key section victory for No. 13 ranked Bemidji against No. 12 ranked North Wright County, which entered the game undefeated.

The Jacks held a 3-1 lead midway through the second period before NWC scored back-to-back power play goals to tie the game.

Jamie Johnson, Karleigh Wolkerstorfer and Shelby Sauer also scored for the Jacks.

Starting goalie Maria Thompson had seven saves for BHS.

The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks stopped Bemidji's brief two-game hockey win string Tuesday at the Denfeld Invitational, scoring a 5-2 victory.

It left Bemidji at 5-5 and lifted CEC to 5-6-1.

Bemidji ends the three day meet today, facing Cottage Grove's Park High at 9 this morning. The two JV teams clash at 11:15.
