A shorthanded Bemidji girls golf team competed at Headwaters Golf Course in Park Rapids Monday and the Lumberjacks finished sixth in a 10-team field.
Last Saturday at Grand Rapids BHS also was shorthanded because of prom. The result was an 11th-place finish in the 14-team field.
"The school had advanced placement tests Monday so we only had four varsity girls play at Park Rapids," said BHS coach Jeff Nelson.
"We probably would have finished 25 shots better had we had everybody but we did fine. I'm pleased with the way the kids played. You can tell that we are improving each meet."
Meg Phelps paced the Jacks Monday as she shot 89. Aimee Sandquist finished with a 94 and Amy Frosaker shot 96. Bemidji's other score was Katlyn Kraft's 103.
Rachel Wold of Crookston was meet medalist, shooting a 79 over the par-72 layout.
Detroit Lakes captured team honors with a 349. Roseau was second at 356 and Crookston third with a 363. Bemidji finished at 382.
Saturday Bemidji took a split squad of varsity and junior varsity golfers to Grand Rapids.
The Lumberjacks shot 417 and placed 11th of 14 teams. Grand Rapids won the meet with 334.
