It will be the last meeting between the two neighbors for then next few years with Bemidji dropped from the Park Rapids schedule at the Panthers request.

The win lifted the Jacks to 13-9 and secured at least a winning season in regulation play and no worse than an even year overall.

They can cement winning years in both categories Monday when they host Thief River Falls, a team they beat by 30 at Prowlerville in December.

Bemidji put the game away in the firs ten minutes, running 10 unanswered points to break a 2-2 tie and adding strings of seven and nine to roll to a 35-10 lead with seven minutes to play.

Football star Kevin Vaadeland was the only Panther weapon, hitting eight of the10.

By halftime, the Jacks led 44-13 out boarding the home team 26-12.

They closed the half with the final seven points and opened the second with the first 10 to complete a 17-0 run before Paul Dirks drained a trey.

By that time the game had gone to running time at Park Rapids; request although 13 minutes remained instead of the required 8½.

But Bemidji's quest to return to the 70 point mark was reached when Nate McGriff drained the seventh Bemidji trey as time expired.

Ten of the 12 Jacks to see action scored, led by Ray Walker who equaled his season's tops with 18, and Ryan Rude who hit 12. Walker had three treys and Rude two.

Vaadeland ended with12 for Park Rapids. He is headed to NDSU next fall on a football scholarship. No other Panther hit more than six.

Park Rapids fell to 6-17.

Bemidji closes with TRF Monday, Duluth Central Friday and Duluth East Mar. 9.

Only East of that trio should cause serious problems.

Bemidji took both preliminaries. The JV won 70-47 taking a 36 7-13 halftime lead.

Harley Kroening hit 14 and Carey Woods 12 to lead 12 players in the scoring column. Chris Ridlon had 14, Taylor Kimball 13 and Dillon Theis 10 for the Panthers. The B Team is 13-9.

The frosh reached 11-8 with a 66-23 decision leading 42-11 at the break.

J.C. Cervenka had 15 and Cole Mills 10 with nine other players scoring. Goppelrud hit nine to lead Park Rapids.
