Bemidji given No. 5 seed in 8-3A baseball playoffs
BEMIDJI – The Bemidji High School baseball team received the fifth seed in the Section 8-3A playoffs and will open its postseason noon Monday against No. 12 Sartell in Brainerd.
The losers of the first-round games will be eliminated but if the Lumberjacks defeat Sartell they will stay in Brainerd and battle the Warriors in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. Brainerd earned the fourth seed in the tournament.
The section tournament becomes a double-elimination event once the teams reach the quarterfinals.
In Section 8A, Blackduck (12-2) earned the top seed in the East Division and will face No. 8 Red Lake (0-8) in Tuesday’s opening round.
Kelliher-Northome (4-7) is the fourth seed and will host No. 5 Northland-Remer (3-8). Cass Lake-Bena (0-7) is the sixth seed and will travel to No. 3 Lake of the Woods (7-5).
Laporte (0-9) is the seventh seed and will head to No. 2 Walker-Hackensack-Akeley (8-5) in the opening round.
