Bemidji's girls basketball players are in a collective shooting slump and that trend continued Thursday at Crosby-Ironton.

The Lumberjacks hit only 29 percent of their field goal attempts and the inability to find the net resulted in a 47-35 loss to the Rangers.

"In the first half we scored only 13 points and I don't think we made a basket from further away than three feet," said BHS coach Rick Kehoe. "We're not going to win many games shooting 29 percent."

Defensively Bemidji continued its stingy play. Despite scoring only 13 points in the opening 18 minutes the Lumberjacks were still in the game at intermission as Crosby-Ironton managed only 18.

"Defensively we continue to play well," Kehoe said. "But right now we are struggling on offense."

Thursday's loss evened Bemidji's record at 10-10. The Lumberjacks will try to snap their four-game losing streak Saturday when they host

Alexandria at 1 p.m.

The game will be the first half of a double-header with the boys basketball team and both squads will celebrate "Hoops for Cancer."

All proceeds from the two basketball games, and money raised through special activities during the afternoon, will be donated to organizations which help fight cancer.
