Bemidji fundraising initiative seeks donations of peanut butter

Area businesses and schools are asking for donations of peanut butter from now through March 31 as part of a community-wide fundraising initiative called The Peanut Butter Project.

Donations can be dropped off in the Peanut Butter Project bin in the center court area of the Paul Bunyan Mall, or at participating schools and grocery stores.

All proceeds will benefit the Bemidji Community Food Shelf.

Participating businesses include Lueken's Village Foods North & South, Marketplace Foods and Harmony Natural Foods Coop.

Participating schools are Central, Horace May, J.W. Smith, Lincoln, Northern and Solway elementary schools, Schoolcraft Learning Community, St. Phillip's School, St. Mark's School, Bemidji Middle School, Bemidji High School and TrekNorth Junior & Senior High School.

Bemidji State University's Sustainability Office is also participating in the project.
