Bemidji firefighters respond to Saturday afternoon fire
BEMIDJI — Bemidji Fire Department responded to a house fire Saturday afternoon in Bemidji.
Bemidji firefighters arrived on scene to find a fire on the rear deck that had extended to the attic of the home. Firefighters were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire. Seventeen firefighters used three fire engines on the scene.
The occupant of the home did sustain minor burns to his hand during the fire. The fire department was on scene approximately 1-1/2 hours.
The fire caused an estimated $15,000 in damage to the structure and contents. The cause of the fire is appears to be accidental in nature from discarded ashes from a fireplace.
The fire department was assisted at the scene by the Bemidji Police Department, and Bemidji Ambulance.
