The Bemidji Fire Department officials responded to a house fire located in the 500 block of 28th Street Northwest after receiving a call at 7:51 a.m.

A news release said firefighters saw smoke coming from an exterior wall on the second story with the house filling with smoke. They were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire, which was found inside the wall.

Nineteen firefighters used three fire engines and a ladder truck on the scene.

No injuries were reported and the firefighters were on scene about two hours.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Bemidji Fire Department, however no foul play is suspected and it appears to be accidental in nature.

The fire department was assisted at the scene by the Bemidji Police Department and Bemidji Ambulance Service.
