An estimated $76,800 in property loss was reported for November. The department estimated that in 2013, so far, $3,937,833 worth of property was threatened by fire with $1,256,172 of fire losses.
Two all call pages were received with one sectional firefighter page. There was an average of 5.5 calls for service each day in November. Since the beginning of 2013, 1,920 calls have come in to the fire department.
In November, the Bemidji Fire Department responded to:
3 building fires
1 chimney fire
1 vehicle fire
31 emergency medical calls
1 natural gas leak
3 carbon monoxide incidents
7 fire alarm responses
92 airport standbys
The Bemidji Fire Department firefighters completed 189 hours of training in November including: winter operations of fire pumps, relay pumping, hazardous materials incident management, bloodborne pathogens, employee right to know and pediatric emergencies.
The department conducted 20 building inspections, one fire extinguishing training session, two fire station tours and issued 16 open burning permits. A new dry hydrant was also installed on Big Bass Lake.
