Bemidji Fire Department gets grant for safety equipment
WASHINGTON -- The Bemidji Fire Department is one of six Minnesota fire departments to share $1.3 million in federal grants for fire safety equipment.
The Bemidji department will receive $45,518 for operations and safety, Minnesota's Democratic congressional delegation announced Friday.
The money comes from the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
The funding will be used for vehicle acquisition and to enhance operations and safety. It includes training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and fitness, and health and safety modifications to stations and facilities.
Other cities winning awards were Blue Earth, Orr, Breckenridge, Bricelyn and Alden.
