Bemidji Fire Department calls for February reported

The Bemidji Fire Department responded to 172 calls for service in February.

Calls included:

- 39 emergency medical calls.

- 2 natural/propane gas leaks.

- 6 carbon monoxide incidents.

- 81 airport standbys.

The estimated dollar lost due to fire in February was $172,500. There were five all-call general alarms.

On-duty career firefighters and dorm firefighters handled 97.1 percent of the February calls.

It is estimated that in 2011, through February, the department has saved $127,100 worth of property threatened by fire.

The department also completed 304 hours of training in February, including strategies and tactics for initial company operations, wildland/urban interface firefighting, firefighter mayday operations and hazardous material awareness.
