Bemidji drops 4-2 decision at Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA – Matt Serratore’s goal with 32 seconds to play brought the Bemidji boys hockey team within 3-2 of Alexandria but the home team answered with an empty net goal six seconds later to cap its 4-2 Saturday victory over the Lumberjacks.
Bemidji spotted the Cardinals a 1-0 lead after the first period and each team scored a goal in the middle session.
Alexandria owned a 2-0 lead late in the period when BHS got on the board courtesy of Zach Posner’s goal.
The Cardinals regained their two-goal lead 14:16 into the third period but Serratore sliced the deficit to 3-2 with his power play goal at 16:28. The Jacks also had pulled goalie Garrett Atteberry so they were skating with a 6-on-4 advantage.
On the ensuing faceoff, however, Alexandria gained control and promptly sent the puck into the empty net for the clincher.
Bemidji, 6-13-1, returns to action Thursday at home against Roseau.
