Bemidji City Council: Land offer from DNR accepted

The Bemidji Economic Development Authority has accepted an offer from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for land along the south shore of Lake Bemidji.

The DNR offered $2.3 million to purchase more than 15 acres of land, and the BEDA accepted the offer following a closed meeting Monday night.

The land will be used for the Paul Bunyan State Trail and also as the "aquatic management area," which will preserve untouched lakeshore.

City Manager John Chattin said the BEDA accepted the offer, but included conditions for the DNR's consideration.

The land is along the south shore of Lake Bemidji and is included in the 140-acre redevelopment plan that will include the Bemidji regional events center.
