FERGUS FALLS – The Bemidji girls tennis team ran its dual record to 9-0 Saturday when it blanked Fergus Falls 7-0 and blistered Moorhead 6-1.

“We have several athletes out with injuries but that challenge has presented our team with some opportunities for other players to gain varsity match time,” said BHS assistant coach Kristen Olson. “The coaching staff is happy to see that our athletes have risen to the challenge.”

Among the Lumberjacks who have accepted the challenge is Amy Frosaker who won both of her matches at first singles.

Also winning against Fergus Falls in singles action were Claudia Bellew, Sarah McNallan and Nicolette Roy.

Bemidji’s winning doubles teams were Annika Johnson and Olivia Dickinson, Alexis Konecne and Megan Serratore plus Lexy Wood and Erin Edlund.

Against Moorhead Frosaker, McKenzie Schultz, McNallan and Roy won singles matches.

Bemidji also saw Jenna Lee and Claire Baumgartner claim second doubles and the duo of Caitlin Puro and Kayla Snell prevail at third doubles.

Konecne and Serratore dropped their first doubles match.

“Our team has a wonderful amount of depth and it is great to see players not only step up to play the matches competitively but to win them,” Olson said.

The Jacks return to the courts Wednesday at Grand Rapids.
