When the Bemidji baseball team takes the field 10 a.m. Thursday against Burnsville in the first round of the Class 3-A tournament at Midway Stadium the Lumberjacks will be hoping to continue the one-two punch that carried them through the section playoffs.

Offensively BHS scored 51 runs during its six-game run in the Section 8-3A showdowns and averaged 8.5 runs per contest.

The pitching and defense, meanwhile, allowed 32 runs in the six games for an average of 5.3. Of the 32 runs, 16 of them came in the 16-10 loss to Alexandria which dropped Bemidji into the lower's bracket midway through the tournament. The Jacks responded from that setback to defeat Sauk Rapids 11-6 and sweep Alexandria by scores of 14-1 and 4-1.
