A storm system moving from the Rockies into the western Dakotas will help push snow into eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. Snow will move into the Devils Lake basin Wednesday morning and spread eastward in the afternoon.

Snowfall amounts are expected to range from 2 inches near the South Dakota border to 6 inches in the Lake of the Woods region. There will be a brief break in the snow late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, followed by a second wave that could add 1 to 3 inches of snow.

West winds will pick up behind the system on Thursday, creating hazardous conditions.
