Bemidji area nonprofit leads nationwide voting for new Toyota
BEMIDJI - A local nonprofit is clinging to a slight lead in voting today ina nationwide contest for a new Toyota.
Northwoods Habitat for Humanity is a finalist in Toyota's 100 Cars for Good program and one of five nonprofits competing for the vehicle in the one-day poll.
As of 2:45 p.m., Northwoods Habitat had accumulated 29 percent of the total votes cast, slight ahead of iPraxis, which had garnered 25 percent of votes so far.
The contest closes at 11 p.m.
The program provides 100 vehicles to 100 nonprofits over the course of 100 days.
To help Northwoods Habitat for Humanity win, the public is being asked to visit www.100carsforgood.com and vote for the nonprofit.
The nonprofit is encouraging as many people to vote, and asks that community members request their friends to vote.
The nonprofit with the most votes at the end of each day will win one of six Toyota models. Runners-up will receive a $1,000 cash grant from Toyota.
