Bemidji area golfers come up short in bids to make state meet
BEMIDJI — The Bemidji area golfers came up short in their bids to reach the state Class A golf tournament as none of them placed in the top seven at the Section 8A meet which was held Tuesday at the Bemidji Town and Country Club.
Kittson County Central captured the boys team championship with a score of 332. Fosston was a distant second at 347 while Red Lake County shot 358 and Walker-Hackensack-Akeley finished at 362.
Badger-Greenbush-Middle River won the girls title, edging Fosston by one shot. BGMR carded a 362 while Fosston finished at 363.
Climax-Fisher (381) and West Marshall (398) trailed the leaders.
Anders Lindegard of KCC was the boys medalist as the sophomore shot 76.
Cass Lake- Bena had two golfers in the boys field. Senior Bryce Premo finished with a 92 and freshman Kyle Pemberton shot 97. Lochlan Broadley of Fosston claimed the final individual state berth with an 84.
Earning the final girls state spots were Hannah Wagner of Climax-Fisher and Emilee Nelson of West Marshall as each shot 90.
The top area score was posted by Tatianna McClain of Red Lake who shot 103. Miranda Opsal-Richards of Cass Lake-Bena carded a 112 and Red Lake’s Kathy Sigana finished at 120.
