Christianson and Lueck led after Friday’s opening day with 18.88 pounds. On Saturday they landed 13.63 pounds but Travor Diegel and Paul Steffen of Pierre, S.D. brought in a 19.34 weight to overtake Christianson and Lueck. Steffen and Diegel had a two-day weight of 32.88 pounds and edged Christianson and Lueck by only 0.37 pounds.

Their reward for winning the 82-boat tournament was $17,400 in cash and prizes.

Steffen and Diegel also won last fall’s Cabela’s MWC tournament on Cass Lake.

“Winning two in a row here, against the phenomenal local anglers and traveling teams in the field, is incredible,”Steffen said following Saturday’s weigh-in at Stony Point Resort.

The winners targeted breaklines on Cass Lake and Pike Bay with a variety of presentations including jigs, crawler harnesses and crankbaits.

Christianson and Lueck earned $6,800 for second place.

Other area teams in the top-10 were Dan Fuller and Kyle Menke of Bemidji who finished fifth (30.06 pounds), Kelly Juelson of Hines and Jay Reiplinger of Bemidji who placed sixth (27.22), Scott Larson and Brian Peter of Blackduck who were seventh (26.87) and Dan Stier of Mina and Carl Adams of Blackduck who were 10th (26.51).
