GRAND FORKS - Bemidji's Northern Heat 12-year-old baseball team won its second straight game at the Midwest Region tournament Friday, stopping Bismarck 5-2 in the winner's bracket semifinal.
Zach Schaubhut went the distance on the Bemidji mound, fanning nine and walking no one.
Bemidji took charge with three runs in the opening inning. Brian Pogue singled to begin the frame and Cade Ogden was hit by a pitch. Matt Fitzgerald's bunt single loaded the bases and Pogue scored on Schaubhut's sacrifice fly.
A passed ball plated the second run and an error scored the third.
Bemidji added two runs in the fourth on Jonah Muller's single, a fielder's choice, a walk to Pogue and Ogden's 2-run single.
Bemidji returns to action 4 p.m. today against either Grand Forks or Regina.
