Beltrami District Court Report for Sept. 8

The following cases were heard on Aug. 13 and 14 by Beltrami District Judge Paul Benshoof:

Richard Edward Strong, 39, of Bemidji was sentenced for obstructing the legal process. He must serve one year in jail, 345 days of which are stayed for one year. Credit for time served is 13 days.

He was placed on one year probation.

Jory David Lester, 35, of Turtle River was sentenced for second-degree DWI. He must serve one year in jail, 335 days of which are stayed for four years. Credit for time served is 18 days.

He was placed on four years probation and must pay a $750 fine.

Nadine Lorrelle Cloud, 35, of Red Lake was sentenced for giving a peace officer a false name. She must sdrve one year in jail, 335 days of which are stayed for two years. Credit for time served is 19 days. She was placed on two years probation and must pay a $300 fine.

Darren Harvey Benais, 50, of Cass Lake was sentenced for second-degree DWI. He must serve one year in jail; credit for time served is 49 days.

The following cases were heard on August 13, 27 and 28 and September 5 by Beltrami District Judge Shari Schlucter:

Donovan John Wilson, 36, of Bemidji was sentenced for second-degree DWI. He must serve one year in jail, 275 days of which are stayed for four years. Credit for time served is three days.

He was placed on one year probation and must pay a $650 fine.

Jenna Marie Walton, 40, of Baudette was sentenced for second-degree DWI. She must serve one year in jail, 343 days of which are stayed for three years.

She was placed on three years probation and must pay a $50 fine.

Joshua William Behrends, 27, of Bemidji was sentenced for first-degree DWI. A sentence of 42 months at the St. Cloud Correctional Facility was stayed seven years. He must serve 90 days in jail. Credit for time served is six days.

He was placed on seven years probation.

Behrends was also sentenced for second-degree DWI. He must serve one year in jail, all of which is stayed for four years.

He was place on four years probation.

Todd Edward Pierce, 46, of Tenstrike was sentenced for violating driver's license alcohol restrictions. He must serve onee year in jail, 363 days of which are stayed for two years. Credit for time served is two days.

He was placed on two years probation and must pay a $300 fine.

River Phoenix Shady, 24, of Cass Lake was sentenced for third-degree DWI. He must serve one year in jail, 347 days of which are stayed for three years. Credit for time served is 12 days.

He was placed on three years probation and must pay a $100 fine.

Darress May Graves, 22, of Cass Lake was sentenced for fourth-degree assault. He must serve one year in jail, 335 days of which are stayed for two years.

He was also placed on two years probation and must pay a $300 fine.

The following cases were heard on Sept. 4 by Beltrami District Judge Paul Benshoof:

Bradley Wayne Kvande, 39, of Bemidji was sentenced for second-degree DWI. He must serve one year in jail, 335 days of which are stayed for four years. Credit for time served is 13 days.

He was placed on four years probation and must pay a $750 fine.

Kathleen Rose Jones, 31, of Fargo, N.D. was sentenced for issuing a dishonored check. She must serve one year in jail, 227 days of which are stayed for two years.

She was placed on two years probation and must pay a $200 fine.

Gabriel Ahren Belter, 40, of Minneapolis was sentenced for third-degree burglary. A sentence of one year and six months at the St. Cloud Correctional Facility was stayed for five years. He must serve 156 days in jail.

He was placed on probation for five years and must pay a $1,000 fine.

The following cases were heard on August 19 and 22 by Beltrami District Judge John Melbye:

Matthew James Joy, 28, of Hines was sentenced for second-degree burglary. He must serve two years and nine months at the St. Cloud Correctional Facility. Credit for time served is 115 days.

Ronald Duwayne Cournoyer, 41, of Bemidji was sentenced for driving after cancellation. He was placed on one year probation, successful completion of which will result in a dismissal of the charge.

Austin Allan Spencer, 21, of Bemidji was sentenced for second-degree DWI. He must serve one year in jail, 355 days of which are stayed for four years.

He was placed on four years probation and must pay a $3,000 fine.

Brian Curtis Winge, 29, of Solway was sentenced for theft.

He was placed on five years probation, successful completion of which will result in a misdemeanor conviction five years. He must serve 30 days in jail and pay a $1,000 fine.
