Email

BEMIDJI – The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office will test its new CodeRED emergency-notification system next week.

The message will go out as follows:

“This is the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center with an important message for all residents and businesses located in Beltrami County.

“We have licensed the CodeRED Community Notification System to help disseminate important or critical information.

“We encourage all residents and businesses to go to the Beltrami County website, click on CodeRED located our website, in the middle of the main page, and enter your contact information, including additional phone numbers, text and email addresses and any TTY/TTD devices (for our deaf and hard of hearing community), to ensure all of the data in our system is accurate and current.

“If you know of anyone who did not receive this call who lives in Beltrami County please encourage them to visit the county’s website at www.co.beltrami.mn.us and enter their information.

“If you do not have Internet access, please contact a friend or family member to help add your contact information to the emergency database. We will be offering assistance in entering your data through Town Hall Meetings. Emergency only questions regarding this program can be directed to 218-333-8320. Thank you.”

More than 20,000 landline numbers have been loaded into the system and the county reports many residents have registered their cell phone and email addresses as well. A cell phone app also is available to download.

Those receiving phone calls will see a caller ID phone number come up with the CODE RED 800 number which allows you to call that number back and hear the message we have recorded.

The county asks, strongly, that residents not call the Dispatch Center or 911 for information.

Visit the county’s website at www.co.beltrami.mn.us for more information or to register a phone number for notifications.

Beltrami County residents are encouraged to enter contact information for home, business, and mobile phones so they may be contacted by the system in the event of an emergency.  It is important for city residents and businesses customers to register, especially if they use unlisted numbers, cell phones, or VOIP. Those who do not register their address and phone number may not be notified with CodeRED in the case of an emergency. Registration is confidential and free.
