Beltrami County residents concerned about flooding can obtain sandbags
The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Management advises that there are now unfilled sandbags available to any Beltrami County or city of Bemidji resident for purchase at the Bemidji Public Works Building located at 1351 Fifth Street Northwest just west of the railroad tracks on the west side of Bemidji. The cost is 25 cents per bag, which will include the delivery of the sand needed to fill the bags.
The city of Bemidji advises that city residents will need to have a pickup or some type of truck to haul sand from the City Public Works Building to their residences. City crews will load vehicles with the sand appropriate to the number of purchased sandbags.
Residents wishing to purchase bags can do so between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday at the Public Works Building. Payment is by check or cash. Credit or debit cards are unacceptable and correct change is necessary
Those who wish to have sand delivered to their city or county addresses must provide a physical address and directions to the home, cell and work contact numbers and name of person who will be available to accept delivery of sand. Someone must be on the scene to receive the load of sand.
The hotline for questions is 333-8386. Callers should leave their names and contact numbers.
