Beltrami County offers snow removal tips
Beltrami County is reminding citizens that it is illegal to plow snow from a yard and onto or across public roads or right-of-way.
Minnesota Statue 160.2715 makes it illegal to "obstruct any highway or deposit snow or ice thereon."
The statue applies to all public roadways such as city, township, county and state roads, according to a press release from the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Management.
Violation of the statue could lead to unsafe conditions for drivers and public utility workers attempting to clear roads, as well as extra time and expense, according to the press release.
Violation of the statue is a misdemeanor and is punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
