Beltrami County man dies two days after shooting

Matthew David Albert, the 27-year-old victim of a Tuesday shooting in Shooks Township, was pronounced dead today at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis.

Albert was alive but unconscious and was transported by Blackduck Ambulance to a landing site and transferred to the North Memorial Air Ambulance for transport to North Memorial.

Albert never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead today. His body was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office for determination of cause and manner of death.

At 10:23 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, Beltrami County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in Shooks Township and located Albert suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. Members from Blackduck Ambulance and Kelliher Fire- Rescue also responded.

Authorities request assistance in locating a firearm which has been removed from the Albert residence and may be connected to this case. The firearm is described as a Heritage Arms .22 caliber single action cowboy-style six-shooter, blue revolver with a 6.5 inch barrel and wooden grips. Anyone with information regarding this gun, or any other information about this case is requested to contact the Beltrami County Sheriff's office at 333-9111 or the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension at 755-6650 or 888-234-3692).

At this time there is no reason to believe this situation represents a continuing threat to the public.
