The following cases were heard Aug. 27 by Beltrami County District Court John Melbye:

-- Christopher John Staples, 31, of Bemidji, was sentenced for gross misdemeanor DWI.

He was sentenced to one year in jail with 335 days stayed for three years. He must serve 30 days in jail on work release, if eligible, and was given credit for one day served. He was placed on probation for three years. He must pay or work off a $750 fine and $185 in fees.

-- Leonard Dean Headbird, 36, of Cass Lake, was sentenced for gross misdemeanor domestic assault.

He was sentenced to one year in jail with 230 days stayed for two years. He must serve 135 days in jail but was given credit for 135 days already served. He was placed on supervised probation for two years. He must pay or work off a $500 fine and $160 in fees.

-- Richard David Harris, 26, of Pinewood, was sentenced for gross misdemeanor domestic assault.

He was sentenced to one year in jail with 245 days stayed for two years. He must serve 120 days in jail and was given credit for 41 days served. He was placed on supervised probation for two years. He must pay or work off a $1,000 fine, but $500 of that was stayed for three years. He must pay $160 in fees.

-- Joe William Beauchamp, 24, of Shevlin, was sentenced for gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI.

He was sentenced to one year in jail with 350 days stayed for three years. He must serve 15 days in jail and was given credit for five days served. He was placed on probation for three years. He must pay or work off a $750 fine and pay $185 in fees.

-- Paris Prescott Johnson, 23, of Welch, Minn., was sentenced for felony terroristic threats. He was given a statutory stay of adjudication; successful completion of probation will result in a misdemeanor conviction.

He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and was given credit for 81 days served. He must complete anger management within 30 days of being released. He was placed on supervised probation for five years. He must pay or work off a $1,000 fine and pay $160 in fees.

-- David Landon Bailey, 51, of Bemidji, was sentenced for felony third-degree drugs.

He was sentenced to 21 months in prison with the sentence stayed for 20 years. He must serve 165 days in jail but was given credit for 165 days already served. He was placed on supervised probation for 20 years. He must pay or work off a $1,500 fine, but $750 of that was stayed for 20 years. He must pay $160 in fees.

The following cases were heard Sept. 4 by Beltrami County District Court Shari Schluchter:

-- Lawrence Dean Hart, 21, of Bemidji, was sentenced for gross misdemeanor domestic abuse.

He was sentenced to one year in jail with 335 days stayed for two years. He must serve 30 days in jail and was given credit for 17 days served. He was placed on supervised probation for two years. He must pay or work off a $750 fine and pay $160 in fees.

-- Russell Anthony Cole, 55, of Kelliher, was sentenced for felony first-degree DWI.

He was sentenced to 51 months in prison and was given credit for two years, nine months and 12 days served. Conditional release after confinement was set at five years. A $50 fine was waived. He must pay $158 in fees.
