The following cases were heard Sept. 10 by Beltrami County District Court Judge Paul Benshoof:

-- Amanda Jo Ricke, 29, of Bagley, was sentenced for gross misdemeanor second-degree DWI.

She was sentenced to one year in jail with 275 days stayed for four years. She must serve 90 days in jail and was given credit for three days served. She may serve in another county if it’s at no cost to Beltrami County. She was placed on probation for four years. She must pay or work off a $1,000 fine and pay $110 in fees.

-- Kevin Lee Lumbar, 37, of Hibbing, Minn., was sentenced for felony third-degree assault, causing substantial bodily harm.

He was sentenced to 15 months in prison with the sentence stayed for five years. He must serve 180 days in jail and was given credit for 85 days served. He was placed on supervised probation for five years. He must pay or work off a $1,000 fine and pay $160 in fees.

-- Kurt David Echols, 60, of Benedict, Minn., was sentenced on two charges.

For felony fifth-degree possession of drugs, he was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison with the sentence stayed for 10 years. He must serve 180 days in jail and was given credit for 12 days served. He was placed on supervised probation for 10 years. He must pay or work off a $1,000 fine and pay $160 in fees.

For felony fifth-degree drugs, sale of marijuana, he was sentenced to 13 months in prison with the sentence stayed for 10 years. He was placed on supervised probation for 10 years. He must pay a $50 fine.

-- Gordon Wayne Harrison, 53, of Green Bay, Wis., was sentenced for gross misdemeanor driving after cancelation inimical to public safety.

He was sentenced to one year in jail with 350 days stayed for two years. He must serve 15 days on Sentence to Serve, if eligible, and was given credit for three days served. He was placed on probation for two years. He must pay a $500 fine and $160 in fees.

The following cases were heard Sept. 4 by Beltrami County District Court Judge Shari Schluchter:

-- Vincent Louis White, 31, of Moorhead, was sentenced for felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. He was given a stay of imposition; successful completion of probation will result in a misdemeanor conviction.

He must serve 42 days in jail and was placed on supervised probation for four years. He must pay or work off a $1,000 fine and pay $158 in fees.

-- Travis Jacob Schmidtgall, 24, of Fosston, was sentenced for gross misdemeanor second-degree DWI.

He was sentenced to one year in jail with 275 days stayed for four years. He must serve 90 days on work release, if eligible, and was given credit for three days served. He may serve in another county if at no cost to Beltrami County. He was placed on probation for four years. He must pay or work off a $1,000 fine and pay $183 in fees.

-- Mark Raymond Reese, 46, of Bemidji, was sentenced on two charges.

For felony possession or sale of stolen or counterfeit checks, he was sentenced to one year and one day in prison with the sentence stayed for five years. He must serve 60 days in jail and was given credit for 41 days served. He was placed on supervised probation for five years, and must pay or work off a $1,000 fine and pay $160 in fees.

For felony fifth-degree drug possession, he was sentenced to prison for one year and one day, with the sentence stayed for five years. He was placed on supervised probation for five years, and must pay or work off a $1,000 fine.

-- Ronald Pearley Bliss, 59, of Pennington, was sentenced for gross misdemeanor driving after cancelation inimical to public safety.

He was sentenced to one year in jail with 341 days stayed for two years. He must serve 24 days in jail. He was placed on probation for two years. He must pay or work off a $500 fine and pay $160 in fees.

-- Dean Earl Maasjo, 52, of Shelvin, was sentenced for gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI.

He was sentenced to one year in jail with 335 days stayed for three years. He must serve 30 days in jail and was given credit for three days served. He may serve in another county if it is at no cost to Beltrami County. He was placed on probation for three years. He must pay a $1,000 fine and pay $108 in fees.

-- William Edward Spears, 53, of Ponemah, was sentenced on two charges.

For gross misdemeanor driving after cancelation inimical to public safety, he was sentenced to one year in jail with 332 days stayed for two years. He must serve 33 days in jail and was given credit for 22 days served. He was placed on probation for two years. He must pay a $200 fine and $160 in fees.

For gross misdemeanor fourth-degree DWI, he was sentenced to one year in jail with 332 days stayed for two years. He must serve 33 days in jail and was given credit for 22 days served. He was placed on probation for two years. He must pay a $500 fine and $25 in fees.

-- Chelsea Ari Anita Susanna Batchelder, 22, of Bemidji, was sentenced for felony fifth-degree drugs.

She was sentenced to one year and one day in prison with the sentence stayed for five years. She must serve 259 days in jail and was placed on supervised probation for five years. She must pay or work off a $750 fine and pay $160 in fees.

-- Bryan Robert Short, 27, of Bemidji, was sentenced for four counts of felony possession of pornographic works.

For the first count, he was sentenced to 15 months in prison. For the second county, he was sentenced to 20 months in prison. For the third count, he was sentenced to 25 months in prison. For the fourth count, he was sentenced to 30 months in prison.

All sentences were stayed for five years and conditional release after confinement was set at five years. He was placed on supervised probation for five years.

He must serve 264 days in jail. He must pay or work off $800 in fines and pay $160 in fees.

The following cases were heard Aug. 27 by Beltrami County District Court Judge John Melbye:

-- David Landon Bailey, 51, of Bemidji, was sentenced for felony third-degree drug possession

He was sentenced to 21 months in prison with the sentence stayed for 20 years. He must serve 165 days in jail and was given credit for 165 days served. He was placed on supervised probation for 20 years. He must pay or work off a $1,500 fine, with $750 stayed for 20 years, and pay $160 in fees.

-- Christopher John Staples, 31, of Bemidji, was sentenced for gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI.

He was sentenced to one year in jail with 335 days stayed for three years. He must serve 30 days in jail on work release, if eligible, and was given credit for one day served. He was placed on probation for three years. He must pay or work off a $750 fine and pay $185 in fees.
