The following cases were heard Dec. 10 by Beltrami County District Court Judge John Melbye:

-- Zachary Ryan Swaser, 20, of Coon Rapids, Minn., was sentenced for felony fifth-degree drug possession. He was given a statutory stay of adjudication; successful completion of his probation will result in a dismissal.

He must serve 30 days in jail, on work release if eligible, and was given credit for 15 days served. He was placed on supervised probation for five years and must pay $1,075 in court costs.

-- Manuel Smith, 65, of Bemidji, was sentenced for felony first-degree DWI.

He was sentenced to 60 months in prison and was given credit for 151 days served. Conditional release after confinement was set at five years. He must pay a $50 fine and $160 in fees.

-- Kimberly Jean Ketchum, 48, of Bemidji, was sentenced for felony check forgery.

She was sentenced to 15 months in prison, which was stayed for five years. She must serve 90 days in jail and was given credit for 20 days served. She must pay $150 in fees.

-- Travis James Varney Jr., 20, of Redby, was sentenced for felony third-degree drugs, sale of a narcotic. He was given a stay of imposition; successful completion of probation will result in a misdemeanor conviction.

He must serve 60 days in jail, on work release if eligible, and was given credit for six days served. He was placed on supervised probation for 20 years. He must pay or work off a $1,000 fine and pay $160 in fees.

The following cases were heard Dec. 3-11 by Beltrami County District Court Judge Paul Benshoof:

-- Ryan James Kohorst, 22, of Bemidji, was sentenced for gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI.

He was sentenced to one year in jail with 350 days stayed for three years. He must serve 15 days in jail and was given credit for two days served. He was placed on probation for three years. He must pay a $250 fine and $435 in fees.

-- Brad Keith Baird, 47, of Embarrass, Minn., was sentenced for gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI, refusal to submit to testing.

He was sentenced to one year in jail with 350 days stayed for four years. He must serve 15 days in jail and was placed on probation for four years. He must pay or work off a $500 fine and pay $435 in fees.
