The following cases were heard by Beltrami County District Judge John Melbye between April 2-23:

Darwyn Michael Halvorson, 71, of Bemidji, was sentenced for felony aiding an offender to avoid arrest.

He must not use or possess firearms or dangerous weapons, pay a $1,000 fine, $500 of which is stayed, and serve three years of supervised probation.

Anita Lynn Whitefeather, 32, of Akeley, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for gross misdemeanor second-degree DWI-refusal to submit to a chemical test.

She must serve 30 days of a one-year jail sentence, stayed for four years, with four days credited for time served, four years of supervised probation and pay a $3,000 fine, which is stayed.

Jonathan Thong Nguyen, 21, of Lino Lakes, Minn., was sentenced April 23 for felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.

He must serve 30 days in jail, with three days credited for time served, and five years of supervised probation.

David Lee Kingbird, 21, of Cass Lake pleaded guilty to felony theft of a motor vehicle.

His sentencing is set for June 4.

Timothy John Rood, 51, of Lakeville, Minn., was sentenced for gross misdemeanor second-degree DWI.

He must complete an alcohol assessment, serve 90 days of a one-year jail sentence, stayed for four years, four years of probation and pay an $800 fine.

The following cases were handled by Beltrami County District Judge Paul Benshoof between April 10-20:

Warren Todd White Dress, 22, of Grand Forks, N.D., was sentenced for felony theft of a motor vehicle.

He must serve 45 days in jail, with 20 days credited for time served, five years of supervised probation, complete treatment at North Eastern Human Services Center and pay a $1,000 fine.

Gerald Wayne Hawk, 58, of Bemidji, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for third-degree DWI and driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety, both gross misdemeanors.

He must serve 150 days of a one-year jail sentence, stayed for six years, with 11 days credited for time served, six years of probation, complete a chemical assessment within 30 days from release and pay a total of $1,000 in fines.

Lisa Marie Lussier, 45, of Bemidji, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for gross misdemeanor giving a peace officer a false name.

She must serve 15 days of a one-year jail sentence, stayed for two years, with 11 days credited for time served, two years of probation and pay a $300 fine.

Casey Donald Christiansen, 32, of Bemidji, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety.

He must serve six days in jail with three days credited for time served.

Roger Leroy Cloud, 50, of Red Lake, was sentenced for gross misdemeanor second-degree DWI-refusal to submit to a chemical test.

He must serve 18 days of a one-year jail sentence, stayed for four years, four years of supervised probation, complete a DWI program and pay a $750 fine.

Solomon Richard Schneider, 21, of Bemidji, pleaded guilty for felony domestic assault by strangulation.

His sentencing is set for May 7.
