Beltrami County Court Report for April 28

The following cases were heard on April 15 by Beltrami District Judge John Melbye:

DeWayne Allen French, 31, of Ponemah was sentenced for felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance. He was placed on five years probation and must pay a $1,000 fine.

Aaron Leigh Swenson, 28, of Coon Rapids was sentenced for gross misdemeanor second-degree DWI. He must serve one year in jail, 320 days of which are stayed for four years.

He was placed on four years probation and must pay a $750 fine.

Drew Michael Kaiser, 19, of Park Rapids was sentenced for felony second-degree burglary. A sentence of 18 months at the St. Cloud Correctional was stayed for 10 years. He must serve 90 days in jail. Credit for time served is 42 days.

He must pay a $250 fine.

Kaiser was also sentenced for felony operating a vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance. A sentence of 23 months at the St. Cloud Correctional Facility was stayed for five years. He must serve three days in jail and was placed on five years probation.

Wayne Clement Nordin, 40, of Cloquet was sentenced for gross misdemeanor DWI. He must serve one year in jail, 350 days of which are stayed for three years.

He was placed on three years probation and must pay a $750 fine.

Joseph Martin Banta, 38, of Bemidji was sentenced for felony theft. He must serve 30 days in jail. Credit for time served is four days.

He was placed on five years probation, successful completion of which will result in a reduction of the charge to misdemeanor theft. He must pay a $1,000 fine.

Landon Conan Kingbird, 29, of Ponemah was sentenced for felony domestic assault. A sentence of 15 months at the St. Cloud Correctional Facility was stayed for five years. He has already served his time of 69 days in jail.

He was placed on five years probation and must pay a $1,000 fine.

Warren Jered Beaulieu, 20, of Bemidji was sentenced for felony failing to register as a predatory offender. A sentence of 16 months at the St. Cloud Correctional Facility was stayed for five years. He must serve 139 days in jail. Credit for time served is 93 days.

He must pay a $1,000 fine.

The following cases were heard by visiting judge Bernard Boland. Beltrami District Judges John Melby, Shari Schlucter and Paul Benshoof were being trained for the opening of the Beltrami County Domestic Violence Court, requiring Boland’s presence.

Nikki Lynn Fineday, 21, of Bemidji was sentenced for gross misdemeanor escaping from custody. She must serve one year in jail, all of which is stayed for two years.

She was placed on two years probation and must pay a $500 fine.

Aaron Lloyd Tahahwah, 28, of Bemidji was sentenced for gross misdemeanor obstructing the legal process. He must serve one year in jail, 336 days of which is stayed for two years. Credit for time served is 19 days.

He was placed on two years probation and must pay a $750 fine.

Daniel Lee Hoodie, 28, of Ostego was sentenced for gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI. He must serve one year in jail, 355 days of which are stayed for two years. Credit for time served is three days.

He was placed on two years probation and must pay a $500 fine.

The following cases were heard on April 22 and 24 by Beltrami District Judge Shari Schlucter:

Joey Lee Fong Lee, 44, of Houston, Texas was sentenced for gross misdemeanor theft. She must serve one year in jail, 295 days of which are stayed for two years.

She was placed on probation and must pay a $500 fine.

Samuel James Staples III, 20, of Cass Lake was sentenced for felony third-degree sale of narcotics. He must serve 28 months at the St. Cloud Correctional Facility. Credit for time served is 73 days.

He must pay a $50 fine.

Nathan Bruce Hunt, 30, of Bemidji was sentenced for gross misdemeanor damage to property. He must serve one year in jail, 344 days of which are stayed for two years.

He must pay a $500 fine.
