Beltrami County Board: Yellow Ribbon program to be introduced to board
Capt. Michael Obach will present the Beltrami Board of Commissioners with information on the Yellow Ribbon program during the regular meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the County Administration Building, 701 Minnesota Ave. N.W.
The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program is part of the Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. The program allows colleges and universities to voluntarily enter into an agreement with the Veterans Administration to fund some tuition expenses. The college or university can contribute up to 50 percent of tuition expenses, and the VA will match the same amount.
Those eligible for the Yellow Ribbon program must have served at least 36 months of active duty after Sept. 1, 2001, and be honorably discharged from active duty for a service-connected disability.
The County Board will also consider a request from the Beltrami County Highway Department for approval to proceed with the Mission Road project and a fire protection contract with the Grygla Fire Department
During the work session, which will begin at 3 p.m., the commissioners will receive an update on the activity of DWI Court and discuss the 2012 county budget.
